Reading The Waterfall
This week we read our last story in our “Off to Adventure” theme.
The Waterfall, by Jonathan London, is a realistic fiction story. A family’s
backpacking adventure in the mountains leads to the discovery of an amazing
waterfall- and to an exhilarating climb to the top of it. The strategy focus in
this story is predicting and inferring. Students will have a chance to make
predictions and inferences throughout the story. Our comprehension skill for
this story is cause and effect. We will also work on how to thoroughly answer BCRs.

hemispheres, North and South Poles, and the equator on a world map. Students
also were able to describe the role of local government and citizens in making and
enforcing laws. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Welcome to our Third Grade Website! I hope that you will find our site
interesting, informative and fun. It is meant to help keep you up-to-date
on all the exciting things happening in our classroom! As always, please
contact me with any questions or concerns through this page or at
bmarsh@bcps.org. My students are my priority, and I will do everything
I can to help them achieve success and work to their best potential.
Teaching is a privilege and a tremendous responsibility. What I try
to do every day in my class is be a good listener, to guide instruction
rather than lecture, and be willing to use varied approaches to foster
learning. I also strongly believe in establishing and maintaining good
communication with parents. This will foster a positive learning
atmosphere in the classroom and will enhance instruction.
